OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Coughlan got her first break as an extra on ‘Made In Chelsea’.
The ‘Bridgerton’ star rose to fame on Channel 4 sitcom ‘Derry Girls’, but while working as a struggling actress before landing her first big role, she was called up to be part of the E4 reality series.
Appearing on this week’s episode of ‘Rob Beckett’s Smart TV’, she said: “‘Made In Chelsea’ is both more real and it’s more fake than I thought – because you stand in the back silently like proper extras, you can’t speak, and the relationships are real, but the environment is fake.
“It was Lucy Watson and Binky Felstead having a chat and then Spencer Matthews came in, and Lucy started bawling, crying, and Binky was shouting, ‘Cut the cameras, she’s not doing this’.
“I was like, ‘This is the best day of my life.’ ”
Nicola, 37, recently revealed she worked hard and went through some tough times before becoming an established actress, and she now wants to make the most of every opportunity because she realises she’s very “privileged” to be able to do a job she loves.
Speaking at the reopening of the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris last month, Nicola explained: “I think the constant drive for me is to make things that will make people feel something, whether it’s laugh, cry, evoke some memory, all that kind of stuff drives me.
“I love my job, I feel really privileged. I want to do it forever.
“It was a long road to get to do it, and now I think I just soak up every moment. When you meet people who watch the things you’ve done and it made them feel something, that’s the best thing.”
